David joined Bel Air Investment Advisors in 2006 and was named president of the practice in 2017. He is responsible for advising individuals, families, endowments, and foundations. He also chairs the practice’s Management Committee, oversees the practice’s day-to-day operations, and is a member of the Investment Committee. David was recognized by the Los Angeles Business Journal as a “Leader of Influence” in 2022 and 2023.
David is actively involved in the leadership of several charities and non-profit organizations. He is currently the Board Chair of the Buckley School, the oldest K-12 independent co-educational day school in Los Angeles. Previously, he was the chair of the Cedars-Sinai Board of Governors from 2021-2024, during which time he served on the Cedars-Sinai Board of Directors and as a member of the health system’s Investment Committee. During his tenure, Cedars opened the new $50 million Board of Governors Innovation Center focused on uncovering the genomic profile of illnesses and developing personalized treatments for some of the most challenging diseases.
Additionally, David served as an officer and chair of the investment committee of Temple Israel of Hollywood. He has also served as a Geller Fellow at the Jewish Federation of Los Angeles and a board member of Terror Free Tomorrow, a Washington-DC-based non-profit organization that researched and advised on practical solutions to extremism worldwide.
Before joining Bel Air, David was senior counsel to Rep. Henry A. Waxman and executive director of his political action committee, L.A. PAC. He also previously served as counsel to the House of Representatives Committee on Government Reform in Washington, D.C. and is admitted to the California bar.
David earned his J.D. from Harvard Law School in 1994. While at Harvard, David was a teaching fellow in economics and was recognized with the Outstanding Teaching Fellow award. David received his B.S. in Economics with highest honors from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
